From Bush to Hands Off
My first protest was against the invasion of Iraq. I’ve put time in for so many different actions at this point I genuinely don’t remember them all.
Some highlights: During Occupy I worked with some people conveying video and speeches from the days. During the Obama administration I protested drone strikes. In the end of Obama’s term I protested Trump.
Later, I helped do various background tasks during keystone XL, Breonna Taylor and several other actions regarding police brutality and in solidarity with BLM.
Me too and several Trump protest I’ve spent a lot of my time just sitting in a car keeping an eye on Nazis, bikers and what have you during protests. All of these events featured armed militia men, three percenters and the like.
On January 6th I watched a new kind of political theatre. I witnessed, as you did, an attempted coup. I tried to document everything I could. It’s all I could do. It’s all many could do.
If you’ve been down this sort of road, as I have, you know today felt different. Today was big. Today had the smell of freedom.
Today a victory was won. Moral though it may be. We beat the bastards back. We held space for the victims. We told this fascist bullshit where it can shove it.
This may only be the beginning. But you know, and I know, and the people editing video today know… this was new.
This momentum can’t stop.
But I can feel the changes. I can see the horizon and it’s good. We are truly incredible when we stand together.
HANDS OFF 2025!!!!
