Ministering to the sick and disaffected.

The majority of Christians in this country now practice some form of prosperity gospel, evangelical mysticism or are literally Opus Dei fascists.

This isn’t inclusive of hundreds of niche Christian cults which maybe only have a few thousand or hundred followers. Like bastardized paganism or menonites which have larger populations but much less visibility and impact.

Trying to reach these people may be a laudable goal but try to consider the decades of socio-religious indoctrination they’ve had. They’re raised to be paranoid and combative to any institution or organization that isn’t directly associated with their congregation. If you hope to make any kind of impact on their views or their dysfunction it can’t be from social media or through alienating imposition on their way of life.

In 1979 a polio outbreak struck Amish communities, and remediation required extensive outreach campaigns.

From CDC 1979 -

“The programmatic efforts to reach and vaccinate Amish populations were coordinated through the Division of Immunization and state immunization programs, and used the efforts of many CDC public health advisors. Vaccination efforts involved extensive contacts with Amish groups in the 21 states and ultimately resulted in vaccination of approximately one half of Amish persons in the United States.”

It was still only 50% effective:

We have to do much better than this but it will require real will and real money. It can’t be done with memes and time wasted arguing about who is right and wrong. If you want to help, you have to be at least trusted to some extend by the community. Being angry on the internet is the exact opposite of what is called for.

I wish reason or logic could be persuasive, I wish the truth and facts were compelling. They’re not. Learn to appeal to their needs. Improve lives and earn the trust.
