As Unilever’s CEO has decided to force out Ben and Jerry’s CEO due to liberal posts on the internet, the same is happening elsewhere. This is a trend we must do everything in our power to reverse. Let me explain.
Recently, I made acquaintance with someone, for the purposes of this story I’ll call her Mary and I think you should hear what I heard. Her life is exceptional in a number of ways, joyous and fraught. She’s a studious person with a rich academic background. Passionate about art and education. A life long learner and a mother to six children. Her life is ordinary in many others. Just trying to find decent work in a climate where any work is decent.
She’s had ups and downs, divorces and adventures. Bad days, good days. Just like me. Just like you. Recent events conspired to place her in a very ordinary and in point of fact, banal place. Innocuous and ultimately evil.
A thrift store. On the first day of work. Training.
I shouldn’t need to set the scene much more than I already have but her trainer and she began speaking about their children. Both have children that are autistic but Mary has three autistic kids out of six..
Mary goes on to express fear at losing her children’s healthcare and education opportunities. Fears an increasing number of us have.
Shortly thereafter she was brought into her boss’s office. It was there, in the back office of a thrift store, quiet and cold, she was fired. The stated reason being that she’s a liberal. Their boss recommended they go home and wait for their school to call to find out their decision after relaying compendium details regarding the supposed conversation.
In the state she’s from this is legal. A short amount of research revealed that. There are only a handful of states that have protections for political affiliation as a cause for firing.
I’m telling you this because it’s what you should expect in the near term. This tactic is as old as butter. Being a leftist is about to become more painful than it already was. I heard once being a liberal or a leftist is just pain and grieving. And that’s more true now than ever.
This is a window into an evil world unfolding its cursed wings.
We’re walking head first into a new Jim Crow. Contractors can have segregated restaurants. The Judicial can whine all they want because they will laugh on Twitter as they deport you. Anyone they deem unfit gets shoved to the bottom.
If your opinions, who you are as a person in ways you can’t be silent about, if factual reality and your spiritual beliefs can be used against you, what kind of world do our children inherit? If simply having an opinion that differs with your employer is enough to eliminate you, and we allow that as an atmosphere to develop, what then is too far? Fired because you’re not cute enough to work at Arby’s? Too fat to work at The Gap? Too boring to work in a library? They do this to you, they bounce you around, disrupt your life and the blame you for not being a billionaire.
It’s a glimpse. A greasy truth betrayed by the gaping maw of her coworker as she walked to her car. Evil often doesn’t recognize itself until it’s looming over your corpse.

I enjoyed reading this! Keep em coming
Good job! Yes, evil is looming about. What to do… write and continue writing to your congress. Will it do anything? I don’t know. But, it may plant the seed. Protest…
In reference to your article. It has great information and leads to contemplation. The only challenge that I see you might have, is in your phrasing. I don’t know how to say this… hmmm… have you read it outloud? That a tool that writers use to see how the phrasing sounds. It’s a great read Canary, especially for your first post! Congratulations!
